The scam is age-old and is happening for real. There are several con agents available who will give you promises of making it big in the industry. They will flatter you and will request you to attend an interview.
You will come out successfully in the interview and they will compliment you. Some may even give false promises that they have a modeling job that is waiting for you. But the key is that you should not be carried away by such lures because they will tell that you need to buy their package. Yes, if such is the case that you are encountering then don’t fall in the trap of that.
In the modeling industry there are chances of several con agents faking you and you will be billed for a huge sum of money. In many instances you will come to know that you have been scammed only months later. There would be no real auditions as such and you will be eventually frustrated and feel bad about the waste of time.
A real model agency will not in any instance ask you to pay money upfront. They don’t get money from you for photo session. Only the con talent agents ask money upfront. Also, when someone claiming to be a talent agent appears suddenly in public, for eg.shopping mall, then you should be very alert. Generally, the reputed talent agencies don’t scout for models in public places; they wait for the appropriate talent to contact them.
Read the contract fully including the conditions of the contract. Also do sufficient research when you are scouting for a modeling agency. Do not be so carried away by your dream of becoming a model that you fall a prey to scams. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and also don’t stop from asking for recommendations.
Real talent agencies will not put pressure on you. For example they will not stress on using the services of their own photographer or getting modeling coaching from them. Another important thing is that they don’t ask you part with your money upfront. They get money only when you are offered with a paid job.Scammers do things in such a way that it looks too good to be real. Also legitimate modeling agencies will not give false promises that you will get a job. You should ask for references from earlier clients who had offered with modeling jobs.
The main thing regarding child modeling is that you should see the interest of the client and not force them into getting into the industry. There is also lot of scams happening in case of child modeling.
