Twilight’s Ashley Greene beats Milan Fashion Week

Vampire girl Ashley Greene proves off her fashion credentials at Dolce & Gabbana and Armani Ashley Greene has hit Milan Fashion Week with trendy force. Sitting front row at the illustrate for Dolce & Gabbana’s A/W 2010 collection, the Twilight beauty was working a fatally hot look from the label, straight off the catwalk.

Ashley donned this painterly chiffon dress with a colorful flower print and pleated feature for a dreamy feel. The piece de resistance was certainly the toeless studded shoe boots that finished the look. The tough-girl footwear gave this cute springtime dress an edge.

Over at Armani and Ashley chose this violet dress with pink accents for her front row exterior. Worn with fuchsia pink lipstick, heels and grasp bag the outfit had a more ladylike feel. Ashley praised the outfit with a loose, waved updo.

Alexander McQueen interment: fashion world bids farewell to designer

Fashion royalty turned out in force in London for the memorial service of designer Alexander McQueen.

Supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell and fellow designer Stella McCartney joined members of McQueen’s family to say a last farewell to the flamboyant fashionista.

About 100 mourners gone to the funeral of McQueen, real name Lee, at St Paul’s Church in leafy Knightsbridge, west London.  The congregation, with Ms Moss and Ms Campbell who were both dressed completely in black, spent around an hour inside the church before the coffin – laden with pink, white and red roses – was carried out by four pallbearers.

It was laden into a waiting hearse with “Lee” in white flowers on the back. The hearse troop off and gradually followed by two black stretch Jaguars carrying Mr McQueen’s family. Ms Moss, wearing a black knee length dress teamed with sunglasses, a black fur stole and black five inch Louboutin heels, looked distress as she got into a waiting car dressed.

She was followed with her close friend Ms McCartney who wore black pleated trousers, knee high boots and a short windjacket.

McQueen’s father Ronald was together by his five children at the ceremony which came two weeks after the 40-year-old’s death. He was discovered hanged in a wardrobe at his £2 million Mayfair home by his cleaner on the eve of his mother’s funeral on February 11th.

McQueen is the son of an East End cabbie, had three sisters and two brothers. His sister Janet McQueen, from Hornchurch, who was among the mourners today, recognized his body. McQueen’s life is due to be memorized through his clothes at Paris Fashion week on March 9th.

Fashion Students Design of Portsmouth University for International Label Pyrus

Two fashion students will see their designs on the rails of some of the most restricted stores in the world after their work impressed an international fashion label.

University of Portsmouth students Nawal Alkhedairy and Nikki Strange’s designs were chosen for Autumn/Winter 2011 by the brand Pyrus, which is stocked in department stores around the world including Fenwicks on Bond Street.

Nikki, who specializes in textiles, designed and produced a range of different prints while fashion designer Nawal formed two jackets and a blouse.

Every year the third-year students on the BA Fashion and Textile Design with endeavor have to design a capsule fashion collection or range of textiles for an up-and-coming London based fashion label.

This year the students worked by Pyrus’ husband and wife design team Lorraine and Ash Johnson. The duo’s design philosophy is ‘simplicity and style’ stirred by Antique laces, dresses, vintage pieces, fabrics and books.

Fashion lecturer Elaine Igoe from the School of Art, Design and Media said: It is incredible for these students to have an experience of designing for an international label, before they’ve even graduated.

Pyrus is a brand enthused by vintage fashion whose style is effortless, unfussy and contemporary with real attention to detail. The students desired to explore forecasted trends as well as come up with an original take on a research theme.

Nawal and Nikki were offered with the ‘Industrial Context Award‘ for their work, which was explained as original, and suiting the Pyrus brand and customer. Their designs will be put into manufacture and included in the Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection.

Overall it has been an incredible occasion, which will be even more amazing when we see the garments feature in the collection.
